Terms of use
Last updated
These Terms of Use were last updated in October 2026.
Agreement
By accessing mathla.org, creating an account, or submitting content you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Community Rules, and applicable consent choices. If you disagree, do not use the platform.
Purpose of the platform
Mathla provides tools for contributing, reviewing, learning, and organizing Arabic Sign Language resources. The platform exists to support inclusion, education, and trustworthy shared knowledge. Mathla never publishes contributor recordings without the contributor's approval.
Community standards
You agree to follow Community Rules and Safety policy. Deaf leadership, respect for People of Determination, and honest contribution are conditions of participation.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to contribute videos unless a parent or legal guardian has provided verifiable consent. You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
Accounts
You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, Community Rules, or applicable law. Organization and reviewer roles may have additional obligations communicated in-product.
Ownership of recordings
Recordings you submit to Mathla, and all data produced from them, belong to Mathla. Mathla may store, process, review, and use them inside Mathla for any purpose related to its services, including training, testing, and evaluating AI models, checking data quality, and developing and improving Mathla products. You confirm that you have the right to appear in the video and that no other person appears in it without their permission.
Publishing and sharing
Mathla will not publish your recordings or share them outside Mathla (for example in the public dictionary, in marketing, or with partners) without first contacting you and getting your approval. This does not apply to service providers that store or process data for Mathla under contract, or to disclosures required by law.
How recordings are made
Recordings are made live through the Mathla app or the Mathla website. File uploads are not accepted. This keeps recordings consistent and protects the quality of Mathla's data.
Review and publication
Before any recording appears publicly, Mathla asks for your approval, and the recording passes technical, teacher, and Deaf-community review. Recordings without your approval never appear publicly.
Acceptable use
Do not harass others, impersonate, spam, scrape without written permission, bypass review, submit illegal or abusive content, include copyrighted material unrelated to signing, or record others without consent. We may remove content and revoke access at our discretion.
Intellectual property
Mathla trademarks, UI, and platform software are our property. Dictionary entries and approved public videos are licensed for educational and accessibility use as described in-product. Submitted recordings, datasets, and trained models are Mathla property.
Educational disclaimer
Dictionary and learning content are educational aids — not medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice. Do not rely on the platform in life-threatening situations. Live translation on api.mathla.org is a separate service with its own terms and limitations.
Availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features for maintenance, security, or product reasons. We are not liable for interruptions beyond what applicable law requires.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UAE law, Mathla is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from platform use. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of amounts you paid us in the prior twelve months or one hundred UAE dirhams, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the UAE unless mandatory consumer protections require otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after the updated date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Material changes to contributor licenses may require renewed consent.
